May, already!

May 1st: A 6:00 a.m. flight from Washington, D.C., took us
back to Minneapolis.  We drove home to the farm that day.
We visited the ND Heritage Center in Bismarck on May 3rd.
In Texas, we had learned that North Dakota soldiers
were sent to serve in Mercedes, Texas, in 1916,
and we found their flag in the museum.
Seems like history is repeating itself!
This is the "final resting place" of the Nickel Trophy
which traveled back and forth between UND (Sioux
head is on the back side) and NDSU (Bison)--whoever
won the annual football game.
We arrived at Jimmy and Kelly's on the 4th
in time for Grace's band concert at the school.
And later we helped Andrew celebrate
his birthday with a DQ ice cream cake.
He's up to the 6 foot line on the wall
and is playing high school golf.
On Friday, the four older kids were in school,
Bob was out helping Jimmy farm and fix,
and Mary Kate and George entertained me!
George is 10 months old!
Grace showed me her trophy
for her 3rd place win in the
North Dakota State Spelling Bee.
Mary Kate's birthday was on Saturday, May 6th.
She is a three-year-old "energizer bunny"!
Matthew has grown five inches
and is now taller than gramma!
He is playing on the middle school
golf team this year.
"Lego Luke" lives for Legos, I think.
He loves to tease his younger siblings!
Mary Kate had lots of help opening her gifts.
George preferred eating the wrapping paper!
We headed back home on Sunday,
hopefully to stay for a while!
This is what our trees look like.....finally stsrting
to get leaves on May 20th. I planted some flowers anyway.
Surprise retirement party for Cathy. She thought
her kids were going to reveal the gender
of their baby.....
Bob fixed the tin roof on the shop
at the Ritterman land we own. Since he had
some tin left over, he fixed the garden house, too!
May 24th....Well, they're not cherry blossoms,
but our crabapple trees are blooming, finally!
Have to take pics quickly because when the wind
comes up, the blooms go down!
May 31st, Bob has been busy loading up scrap iron
to take to the recycling plant in Minot.  This is
a giant magnet with grippers that unloads the iron.
I thought it was pretty fascinating,
so here's "the scoop." :-)
