Movin' on in August

Found this in a drawer. :-)
Bob's out at Jimmy's helping him with the harvest.
Diane decided this was a good time to clean the garage!
This is the south wall "before".....I should have
taken pics of the east and west walls "before"....
Day 1, Friday: West wall...our 23 cu. ft. deep freeze "died,"
so we replaced it with a small one,
and now I have room for shelves.
Day 2, Saturday:  South wall. The "cubbyhole counter"
came from the J.C. Penney store in Rugby
when it closed. I used the wire baskets from
my old freezers to "organize"
Day 3, Sunday: East wall. The yellow and white
cupboards are from my kitchen before 1992
Bob is out helping Jimmy harvest wheat;
This is my August 7th harvest
and the best part
Tom and Trina's house after the August 10th tornado.
Jett is on the roof.
Trees and part of the roof are on their Suburban
Can you see the vehicle under the debris?
Lots of trees by the house and in the yard were toppled
Suburban partially exposed
Good thing they were in the basement
A totaled mess....
These strange people showed up
at the farm on Friday, the 14th
On Saturday, the girls found not only the wigs
but also the costume box
Lydia
Claire
Cecelia
Bison cheerleader Cecelia;
Football player Lydia

Ana found the wallpaper in the closet
and put the girls to work removing the old...
Ana managed to pull off the longest strip
held here by Cecelia and Lydia
They didn't know they were coming
to "hang out" at the farm, literally!
Everyone lent a helping hand
"Shucks"...that's what we did to the corn
We all played Farkle
Lydia played her guitar and sang for us
Cecelia wrapped up the day
And Claire read a lot of books
The girls decided to re-create the Clinton cutout
on Saturday--a big paper doll
The girls painted our ugly chairs: This is Lydia
backside of Lydia's chair
Cecelia's heart creation
Cecelia's chair back
Claire's flower chair
and the back
Post-painting freezee-pop break
We tried to play badminton over the clothesline,
but the wind took the birdies away, so....
we tried a pickleball with a little more luck
The rug is holding the clotheslines down.
Later, we played Farkle on the deck
Bob's Texas wildflowers are growing!
The "dish" was painted by Alfonso in Mexico
Monday morning we took out the storm windows
and the girls cleaned them with the hoses.
Then we went geocaching in Rugby.
We found the geocache box hidden inside an old
combine on the museum grounds in Rugby.
Lydia, Cecelia, and Claire examine the "treasure"
We played pickleball on the "mini court"
in front of the garage after stopping
at the DQ for Dilly Bars
While Claire had her online Spanish lesson,
Lydia and Cecelia put the turtle pool to good use.
Note the windows behind them waiting
to be put back on the house.
"Splish, splash"...the water was pretty "cool"
On the 19th, Ana and the girls and I left the farm
and headed to their home in Minnesota.
The next day, I drove to Trina's in Iowa.
Fortunately, their electricity had been restored by the time I got there!
The roof repair crew arrived on the 25th and assessed the damage.
Tom headed to their lake cabin to work because there
was no Internet service at the house.
The crew brought in lots of supplies.
More supplies
And the next day they started removing shingles.
A seven-man crew worked on the roof,
and the shingles started flying! Trina and Ari left at 4:30 a.m.
heading to Cleveland for a doctor's appointment.
The main part of the house was "de-shingled"
and the family across the street opened up their pool
to all their neighbors.  Annika is "cycling" in the water.
Caiden on the motorcycle.
Day 2 of reconstruction
Getting the shingles off the screened porch,
and readying the house roof for putting shingles on!
I hope they had their "shingles" shots! :-)
Using the chain saw to chop up the tree on the garage roof
Taking the shingles off the garage
and repairing the damage
Ready for shingles
Friday, August 28th...shingle progress!
Annika and Caiden made popcorn
and watched a Harry Potter movie every night.
