April Fools?

Annika and Jett are not fools--
hope they make crepes for me
when I come!!
Ana and the girls are in New Mexico with cousin Mary Jo
I think Claire had the longest arms, so she got to
shoot the "selfie" of her, Cecelia, Lydia,
Ana, Mary Jo, and Jane in New Mexico.
My final rank in the March Madness bracket...
Temp here Wednesday, April 6th !!!
Sisters-in-law photo before
Kathy left on the 7th, heading
to Arizona to spend Easter with
Steve and Barb and then drive
home to ND with them.
On the 8th, we headed to Port Isabel
to pick up shirts for the Causeway Walk,
and investigated the new Cameron County
Eco Center on the way.
The wetlands with blooming Yucca plants
Zig-zag brick construction on the building walls
Map of the area
Mini-eco systems.....
Historical information about the county's resources....
The Savanna display
Wetlands to desert right in our county
Jerry and Bob were hungry, so we went
to the Pelican Station to eat....great food
and great view of the Laguna and the island
On Saturday, April 9th, we joined 1500 others
for the 5K walk across the Causeway
from Port Isabel to South Padre Island. The walk
was postponed from January to April this year.
Diane, Bob, and Wendy at 6:50 a.m.
The runners in the 10K started at 7 a.m.,
and the walkers began around 7:15.
Wendy and Diane walked to the
beginning of the bridge to watch the runners.
Bob started his walk at point one
about three blocks behind us, but he
passed us on the way up the bridge and
didn't see us.  He is on the right in the
green and white jacket!
Diane at the highest point of the bridge.
Wendy's attempt at a selfie! :-)
It took us 55 minutes to get over the bridge.
Bob was about five minutes ahead of us. Then,
we walked to Yummies for breakfast.  Total
distance walked was almost four miles.
Jerry, Wendy, and Bob enjoyed prickly-pear
mimosas with our awesome food. A perfect day.
Last day of pickleball in Texas with Terry and John.
Leaving La Feria on the 13th....hmmm
Should have known that was not a lucky date
even though it wasn't a Friday. The flight
to Dallas left an hour late; from Dallas
to Miami left six hours late.
View of Miami and Miami Beach
from Donna's condo.
The courtyard by the main lobby
I spent a lot of time in the long pool!
Doug, Sara, and the kids arrived Saturday night.
We went to Easter Mass on the Miami campus,
sat outside, and were surprised with
donuts after Mass...the kids loved it!
Easter dinner at Donna's at the restaurant
in Donna's condo building: L to R:
Doug, Julia, Sara, RJ, Donna standing
with our Cuban cousins Maria, Ricky
(Lydia's son), Ricardo, Lydia, her mother-in-law Patricia
and brother-in-law Tony (Lydia's husband had to work.)
On Tony's left are our cousins from Brazil:
Priscilla, Marina, and Celso. Priscilla's
grandmother was my gramma Shalala's
half sister.
Tom and Trina and kids on their way home
from church on Easter Sunday.
Ana's girls after church on Easter.
The Easter Bunny came to Jimmy's, too!
Julia and RJ kept looking for a coconut,
and finally found one. Doug was elected to crack it!
It looked good inside, but actually was old
and did not taste very good. Sara and I took
the kids to play pickleball on the tennis court
and then to the pool.  Doug, Sara, and the kids
played mini-golf on the putting greens.
On Monday, we enjoyed the Bolognese Ragu sauce
that Donna's friend "Flash" made for us.
DD joined us, but Flash was in New York!
On Tuesday, Bob, Sara, the kids and I
went to the Frost Science Museum.  The kids
enjoyed a lot of hands-on experiences, tried to
touch a stingray in the aquarium, and walked
behind a fish aquarium. If you look carefully,
you can see them under the bright light.
The aquarium displays were awesome!
We stood on what looked like a carpet, and
our image showed up on the screen. So we could
pretend we were in a storm with high winds!
Tuesday evening we went to the UM baseball game.
The kids got their picture taken with "Maniac"
and enjoyed hot dogs and milkshakes.
On the 20th we flew to Minneapolis for
some time with Ana's family.  Cecelia and Lydia
practiced some of their gymnastics routines
on the bar that Papa Martin built. We played
Mexican Train Dominoes, listened to the
music (Claire, violin; Cecelia, piano; Lydia, guitar)
and went to gymnastics practice. On the 23rd,
we drove to Iowa to visit Trina's family.
Bob tested the John Deere mower at Tom and Trina's.
The house paint job was finally finished after
the "Derecho" and looks great!
Jett's track meet was canceled on Monday, so we
didn't get to see him run.  Breakfast at Tom and Trina's
on Tuesday morning. The temperature was 22 degrees
that morning, but Jett did have a track meet that day!!
Annika showed me her teeth--I actually got her to smile!
On the way home, we had a great tour
of the John Deere museum in Waterloo!
Home again....cold weather is still here!
