Easter Sunday Parade--Texas Style

Leaving Texas on April 6th...windy, hot and sunny weather
DC Dogwood..most of the cherry blossoms
were finished blooming when we got there.
On Wednesday we drove through a lot of tunnels
to get to the National Arboretum in DC
We wore masks, even though we were outdoors,
but we did take them off to eat and take pictures.
Relaxing after exploring the Children's Garden.
We found a shady picnic area and had lunch.
Then drove around to see the pretty trees and flowers
Magnolias, Chinese Red Buds, some Cherry trees,
and lots of flowers were blooming.
On Thursday we headed to Doug and Sara's ski house.
RJ's sunfish He caught five fish on Thursday
and two more on Friday
Lookee...Julia got her first fish at Whitetail
and then he caught the same one again!
So, Grampa threw it back further this time.
The ranch worker said that these
"Great Paraknees (Pyrenees) " dogs were the only
ones that could herd the alpacas
In Mercersburg we found President Buchanan's
boyhood home.

which was closed because of Covid.
Buchanan's niece grew up across the street.
This is where Harriet Lane grew up.
We ate at Stoner's pub in Mercersburg and wanted
to tour the Academy grounds, but they were closed
because of Covid.
Back at the mountain, I explored the house.
Grampa and Gramma stayed in the master bedroom
on the main floor. It had a full bathroom, too.

Sara took a nap in between fishing and pickleball.
After supper we played pickleball
on the tennis courts. Friday was kind of misty
all day. We explored the ski area,
and Sara and the kids did some fishing.
We headed back to Virginia on Saturday.
On Sunday we went to Mass at St. Luke's.
It was nice to hear familiar songs and great
music. The sanctuary was also beautiful.
Julia went to her room to read, and RJ practiced
landing the drone.
Doug's dad came with some fishing gear for RJ
and taught him how to tie a lure before we had supper.
The kids were on Spring Break the week we were there,
but they had to go back to school on Monday. After
Sara took them to school, she took us to the airport.
so after supper we had ice-cream cake. Yummy.
The girls, like all our grandkids, are "hooked" on Legos.
They had just acquired over 40 sets and a bunch of
assorted pieces, so they built a village with an amusement
park, and sorted Legos by color.
we went out to the farm to see Corey's toy museum.
Somehow, most of my pics got lost, but the room is
full of all kinds of tractors and other farm toys. I'm
sure that Bob could have spent hours there!!!

The next day, April 13th, we drove home
to snow, cold winds, and twenty degrees.
The next day I took down my Christmas
tree and other decorations while Bob ran
errands in Devils Lake and Rugby. :-)
